Doc Holliday House Short Term Vacation Rental
Located in Historic District of Historic Grapevine Texas
[Doc Holliday House Short Term Vacation Rental] What goes around comes around. Beatrice Portinari was an Italian imigrant who built this house with her husband (name unknown) in the mid 17th Century. Her beloved husband died during the contruction of the house from a farm accident. He was Grapevine's Cordwainer (High quality shoe maker) and the wage earner for the family. After his passing, Beatrice had to find ways of earning an income for her family. It was common during those days that rooms would often be rented out for short periods of time. What's crazy is that plan that Beatrice started is now the plan in place today. Short Term Rental. And the story gets better. Read on.

We love to travel around the world and only utilize VRBO (or similar) services versus hotels. We finally decided to make the leap and offer our special property to travellers with similar needs as ours. This is not our full time job but rather a conduit of enjoyment. I (Rik) juggle many different things. I have been an owner of a Telecommunications company for over 26 years. I also restore 1969-70 Shelby Mustangs with a NASCAR team to bring a unique and limited vehicle to the road. The 'Better' half (Wife) is retired from the airlines and currently manages the houses along with a few other properties that will hopefully become VRBO's some day (Pending the outcome of these treasure...).
Why This Property?
The 'Historic District' within Historic Grapevine is where “its” all happening. No question that all the action is within the Historic District and the 'Doc Holliday' house is smack dab in the middle. Have you ever heard the phrase, “6 Degrees of Separation”? Well this story is more like 2 degrees of separation. I purchased a home from an older lady years ago whom was born and raised in Grapevine. She has since passed and would be pushing 100 if still alive. During the closing process of the house transaction, she noticed my name (Richard Holliday). She asked me if I was, “Kin” to Doc Holliday. I explained that I was and went through the story...She then shared with me that her aunt owned a house and rented a room to Doc Holliday for two months. She put me in contact with the current owner of the house of which I approached (They didn’t know the story) and I asked them if they had an interest in selling. They contacted me months later as they decided to move out West. The transaction was complete and I now own a house that my Great Great Great Grandfather slept in.
